About
Founded in 1988 by Douglas Murray, Aurelio Montes, Alfredo Vidaurre, and Pedro Grand, Viña Montes grew from 10,000 cases to 800,000 annually. The winery's feng-shui inspired facility sits in Colchagua Valley. An angel adorns every label, reflecting Douglas Murray's belief in angels overlooking the winery. Alpha M, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend released in 1999, anchors the portfolio alongside Folly, a Syrah that debuted in 2000. The house exports over 300,000 cases and has 35 years of experience in Japan, where it ranks among the top three markets globally. Montes Purple Angel comprises Carmenère and Petit Verdot. Montes Outer Limits Sauvignon Blanc and Montes Chardonnay from Aconcagua Coast round the range, along with Montes Sparkling Angel and Montes Cherub rosé.
