Maquis

About

Maquis began in 1916 in Palmilla, Colchagua Valley, built by the Hurtado family. Cabernet Franc and Carmenère are the emblematic varieties, with Rodrigo Romero as chief winemaker and Bordeaux consultant Eric Boissenot guiding the work. The vineyard sits between two rivers, old vines without rootstocks offering frost protection in winter and cooling in summer. The winery is the first and only Chilean producer using geothermal energy, a heat pump system drawing from deep wells to regulate cellar temperature. Maquis Viola 2015 and Maquis Franco 2016 won Gold medals at Bordeaux Masters 2023. Maquis Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 won a Master medal at the Global Cabernet Sauvignon Masters 2023.
