About
Salomon Undhof sits in Stein an der Donau, in Austria's Kremstal, as one of the oldest private wineries in the country. Founded in 1792, the winery pioneered bottling at a winery in Austria in 1932, a moment that shifted how Austrian wine reached the world. By the late 1930s, the program had already crossed to the USA. Fanny-Marie Salomon and Bert Salomon lead the work today, drawing from Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Gelber Muskateller, Gelber Traminer, and Gemischter Satz. The portfolio has appeared as a highly recommended producer in Hugh Johnson's World Atlas of Wine since its first edition. In the mid-1990s, Bert and Gertrud Salomon acquired 50 hectares in South Australia's Finniss River valley, planting approximately 15 hectares of vineyard there.
