Caihailian Vineyard

About

Three acres in the Monticello AVA, southwest of Charlottesville on the road to Wintergreen Resort. Caihailian takes its name from the owners' three children, Cailin, Hailey, and Iain. Bob Ramsey began growing wine grapes in 1998, two years before founding the vineyard in 2000 with his wife Anne. His first home-winemaker entry won Best in Show at the 2010 Virginia State Fair. The program centers on Vidal Blanc, made into both a dessert wine called Vidulce and a white Port-style wine, Vidalcielo. In 2022, the vineyard harvested 10.2 tons of grapes.
