About Afton Mountain Vineyards
Afton Mountain Vineyards sits on the eastern slope of Afton Mountain near Charlottesville, Virginia, at nearly 1,000 feet elevation. Founded in 1978, the vineyard cultivates 24 acres of vines across 11 different Vitis vinifera varieties. Damien Blanchon has been winemaker since 2011, working with Albariño, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Tannat. The program focuses on sustainable practices. The tasting room welcomes visitors, with vineyard tours, outdoor seating, a picnic area, and food available. Dogs are welcome.
