About Pruneto

Pruneto began in 1972 when the first vineyard went into the ground in Toscana, at altitudes between 450 and 500 meters. The first Chianti Classico vintage arrived nine years later, in 1981. Riccardo Lanza, who studied agricultural science at Milan University, now leads the program. The house works primarily in Sangiovese and Merlot. The 2016 Chianti Classico DOCG, 95 percent Sangiovese with 5 percent Merlot, aged 18 months in 30-hectoliter oak barrels. The 2015 vintage spent 24 months in the same format.
