Castello di Selvole

About Castello di Selvole

Castello di Selvole sits in the Chianti Classico hills, twenty minutes from Siena, in the small valley between Selvole and Brolio where Chianti Classico was born three hundred years ago. One of Tuscany's oldest wineries, the estate cultivates sixteen hectares of vineyard. Half were recently planted at high density with Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Yves Glories, formerly a professor at the University of Bordeaux, is the winemaker. The cellar produces approximately eighty thousand bottles annually. A chapel from the 1200s, San Martino, stands on the property, with frescoes behind the main altar.
