Newsom Vineyards began in spring of 1986 with two acres of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard now spans 150 acres in Plains, Texas, seventy miles southwest of Lubbock, growing nineteen varieties. All fruit comes from the family's own vines. The wines are one hundred percent single vineyard designated, available only at the tasting room in Comfort, housed in a century-old farmhouse, and at select Hill Country restaurants. The program supplies fruit to over ten wineries across the state. Newsom also operates Rock'n-N Bed & Breakfast, a historic farmhouse on the former McGinty Ranch with four bedrooms, and The Mill house, a twelve-acre property in Comfort.
