The oldest winery in Augusta, Mount Pleasant Estates grows grapes in the Augusta Appellation, the first government-appointed wine-growing district in the United States. The program centers on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Vignoles. The Merlot earned 92 points and Gold at the World Wine Championships, then took Best Missouri Red at the 2010 Midwest Wine Challenge. The 2009 Vignoles claimed 91 points and Gold at the World Wine Championships before winning Best Missouri White at the same 2010 challenge. The Cabernet Sauvignon scored 90 points and Gold. The estate hosts live music and accommodates weddings and private events.
