About
Mason, Texas. An old feed store at 117 N Spring St, retrofitted with modern touches, houses Fly Gap's tasting room and Dark Lounge. The name traces to an 1800s tale, settlers' horses consumed by horseflies in a gap in the Kothman Mountains. The program draws from Texas Hill Country and High Plains vineyards, working with Mourvédre, Alicante Bouschet, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Sagratino, and Tannat across single varietals and blends. Parrvédre, Tr4nsc3nd4tion, and Lighthouse anchor the portfolio at $60 each. DANK – Vox Populi, a Tempranillo-led blend, sits at $32. Fly Gap Sagrannat and Moursag, both from 2018, run $50 and $35. A rotating menu of food from local vendors pairs the wines. Wine club members receive 15% off Fly Gap bottles, with shipments in November or April.
