About
Carstairs Vineyard & Ranch began in 2004 on property with a 4,000-acre Spanish Land Grant history until 1869, when it became a horse breeding operation. A 100-year-old KR barn still stands on the grounds. The winery, completed in 2008, is a 4,600 square-foot solar-powered structure in Paso Robles. Under the Grasshopper label, the program makes roughly 5,000 cases annually using native ferments and minimal intervention winemaking. The wines contain no added enzymes, water, acids, tannins, or nutrients. Grapes come from Central Coast vineyards in Paso Robles and Monterey.
