Hans Peter, from Zell Mosel in Germany, and Ashlee, who grew up in Hammondsport, founded Weis Vineyards on Keuka Lake in New York's Finger Lakes. New York State named it Winery of the Year in 2022, 2024 and 2025. The 2025 New York Wine Classic named its work Best White overall, with individual wins for the 2024 Gruner Veltliner, the 2024 Dry Rosé, the 2024 Unoaked Chardonnay, the 2023 Winzer Select A Riesling, the 2024 Sauvignon Blanc, and the 2024 Seyval Blanc. Group tastings take place in a restored original schoolhouse.
