Von Jakob Vineyard

About

Von Jakob Vineyard opened in Alto Pass in 2010, anchored by Paul Jacobs and 15 acres of Illinois vineyards. The operation spans wines, beers, and hard cider. The brewery launched with eight handcrafted styles, German Pilsner and Chocolate Milk Stout among them. Hard cider production began in 2012. The portfolio now runs to nearly 20 wine varieties, including Jonathan Apple Wine. Two bed and breakfast cottages, The Wine House and The Port House, sit on the property with views toward Shawnee National Forest and minutes from Carbondale. The vineyard is part of the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail.
