Shalom Orchard

About

Shalom Orchard sits on a Franklin, Maine homestead dating to the 1800s. Founded in 2000, it was Maine's first organic winery and the first organic winery on the East Coast devoted to fruit and honey wines. Jim Baranski and Charlotte Young craft the program without sulfites. The portfolio spans Honey Mead, Blueberry Wine, Cider Wine, Apple Wine, Pear Wine, Cranberry Wine, and Kiwi Wine. The Blueberry Wine undergoes long cold fermentation. All wines carry organic certification from MOFGA under NOP standards. The tasting room opens Tuesday through Sunday, May to October, noon to five. November through April, appointments required.
