About Château Ferrière

Château Ferrière has been classified as a Third Growth since 1855. Claire Villars-Lurton assumed control at twenty-five following her mother Bernadette Merlaut's death. The property was acquired by Gabriel Ferriere at the end of the seventeenth century and became property of the Merlaut family at the end of the 1980s. Villars-Lurton converted the estate to biodynamic agriculture and certification. The château serves as the Médoc antenna for the Mouvement de l'Agriculture BioDynamique and is a pioneer of biodynamic agriculture in the Médoc. Her daughter Jeanne stands to become the third generation of women to lead the estate.
