About Château Durfort Vivens

Château Durfort Vivens has occupied 65 hectares across Cantenac, Soussans, Margaux, and Arsac since 1824. Classified as Second Growth in 1855, the estate now operates under Gonzague Lurton's direction as the first Grand Cru Classé of Margaux to hold both Organic and Biodynamic certification, a dual status achieved in 2016 after biodynamic practices began in 2009. The vineyard is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon at 90 percent, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Muscadelle, and Castets in minor roles. Since the 2018 vintage, the cellar has aged wine in clay jars, housing the world's largest such facility by volume. The program includes Les Parcelles.
