About Cantina Poggio Borgoni
The Borromeo family, a Milanese dynasty, settled in Chianti Classico during the XVI century. Their lands merged with those of the Bishops of Florence to form what would become Cantina Poggio Borgoni. The Salvini family acquired approximately 20 hectares directly from the Borromeos, with Paolo Salvini replanting roughly 7 hectares of vineyards in the mid-1990s. The estate sits in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, one of Chianti Classico's principal municipalities. The program centers on Sangiovese, expressed across three wines. Rosso IGT Toscana blends 95% Sangiovese with 5% Merlot. Chianti Classico Curva del Vescovo pairs 85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot, aged 18 months in French oak barrique. Chianti Classico Riserva Borromeo draws 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, aged 24 months in French oak barrique. The estate also produces extra virgin olive oil.
