Cactus Star Vineyard established itself in Ramona in 2001, planting one acre with Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, then Malbec and Petit Verdot the following year. The first vintage arrived in 2004. Woman-owned and controlled since 2005, the house now produces 150 to 200 cases annually across three labels. Scaredy Cat Ranch draws from the estate vineyard. Two Dogs Barking sources from local Ramona Valley growers. Cactus Star itself is a sparkling wine made using traditional Methode Champenoise. The vineyard sits on the west end of the Ramona Valley AVA.
