About Borgo Scopeto
Borgo Scopeto spans 503 hectares in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the province of Siena. Seventy hectares are planted to vine, forty of them to Chianti Classico with differentiated Sangiovese clones. The Vigna Misciano vineyard, source of the Riserva, sits above 400 meters with south-east exposure. Grapes are harvested by hand in the third week of September, yielding 50-60 quintals per hectare. Fifty stainless steel tanks, ranging from 11 to 260 hectoliters, accommodate fermentation for seven to ten days for standard Chianti Classico, stretching to fifteen days or more for Riserva. Aging follows in Slavonian oak barrels and French oak tonneaux.
