About Pomona

Monica Raspi closed her veterinary clinic to become a winemaker at Pomona, founded in 2007 in Toscana. Her parents, Enzo and Inge, recovered two old vineyards in 1982 and started making wine. The program centers on Sangiovese, Colorino, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Trebbiano. Chianti Classico from Sant'Ilario and Vigna del Termine vineyards is blended from 98% Sangiovese and 2% Colorino, earning 93 points from Wine Spectator in 2025 and 3 Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso in 2025. The Gran Selezione L'Omino 2021 scored 94 points from Wine Spectator and 96 from Decanter in 2025. Piero Rosso draws from younger Sangiovese vines, vinified in steel tanks. Pomonica is made from four rows of Trebbiano in Vigna del Termine vineyard, producing up to 500 bottles annually.
