About Vins Hertz Albert
Vins Hertz Albert sits at the edge of Eguisheim's ramparts, a house founded in 1843 and now led by winemaker Albert Hertz. The shift began in 1982, when fertilizers and chemical products were phased out entirely. By 2006, biodynamic cultivation took hold across all vineyards. The first biodynamic vintage arrived in 2004. Demeter certification followed in 2008, covering the entire domain. The 2011 vintage marked the first fully vinified and certified release under the Biodyvin label. Vines average thirty years old. Harvest is manual. Vinification marries traditional oak barrel work with modern technique.
