About
Viñedos de Alcohuaz sits at over 2,200 meters in the Elqui Valley, Chile's highest-altitude commercial vineyard. Marcelo Retamal built the winery and planted those vines across his 18-year tenure. Simón Prudencio Flaño, grandson of founder Álvaro Flaño, now leads the program. In the cellar, grapes are foot-crushed in traditional stone lagars, then matured in large wooden foudres and cement tanks. Rosario Fillol stepped into the role of head winemaker. The portfolio centers on Syrah, Garnacha, Carignan, and Malbec. Dogs are welcome.
