Three Leg Run in Chester, Virginia, operates at the intersection of wine and beer. Melissa Clayton, a student in viticulture and enology at Washington State University, has been making wine for over a decade. Her 2022 Noiret earned Double Gold and a 96-point score at the 2024 International East Meets West Wine Competition, plus a Silver Medal at Fingerlakes International. The program includes Noiret, Viognier, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Riesling, alongside The Trinity, a red blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. A 2025 Strawberry Fruit Wine draws from 100 percent strawberry sourced from Chesterfield County growers. Steve Clayton completed the University of Richmond Professional Brewers Program after over a decade of personal brewing and contributes Paper Boy Brown Ale, which took Bronze at the Virginia Craft Brewers Cup in 2022. A vineyard in Appomattox was planted and will take three to four years to mature.
