About
Land on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, farmed by the same family since David Hazlitt bought a 154 acre fruit farm here in 1852, after working ground in Mecklenburg from 1823. In 1982 that farm split in two, Jerry building Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, Jim keeping his own vineyard, renamed Sawmill Creek Vineyards by 1995 to keep the two apart. Eric Hazlitt grew the fruit as the sixth generation. His son Jason, the seventh, founded Sawmill Creek Estate in 2010 alongside Finger Lakes winemaker Justin Boyette. The wines are built to speak for this specific stretch of Seneca Lake's southeast side. The tasting room sits at 5610 State Route 414 in Hector. Rhett Seeley works the cellar as Assistant Winemaker, and John Moore leads Hospitality and Sales.
