Founded in 1998 on 13 acres in Harwood, Maryland, Thanksgiving Farm Tenant LLC became the first commercial winery in Anne Arundel County when it received its license in 2006. The program grows Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot on-site. Hand-picked grapes are fermented in small stainless steel tanks in small batches, then aged in 59-gallon French oak barrels. The Thanksgiving Farm brand draws exclusively from estate fruit. A second label, Towhee, sources juice from elsewhere. The 1893 farmhouse, restored in 2004 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007, anchors the property 20 miles due east of Washington, D.C. A Conservation Easement protects the land.
