About Tenuta Guado Al Tasso

Tenuta Guado al Tasso is located in the Bolgheri DOC, on the coast of upper Maremma about one hundred kilometers southwest from Florence. The DOC was approved in 1994. The estate covers approximately 320 hectares planted with vines. The Della Gherardesca family began practicing viticulture on their Bolgheri land in the late 1600s. Guido Alberto Della Gherardesca, appointed majordomo to Grand Duke Leopold II, dedicated himself to enology on the family's Maremma land. The property was inherited by Carlotta Della Gherardesca Antinori and her sister in the 1930s. Vineyards are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Vermentino, with smaller plantings of Grenache, Viognier, and Sémillon. The portfolio includes Matarocchio and Guado al Tasso as Bolgheri DOC Superiore, Cont'Ugo and Il Bruciato as Bolgheri DOC Rosso, Scalabrone as Bolgheri DOC Rosato, and Vermentino.
