About South Salem Winery
South Salem Winery opened in 2014 under winemaker John Vuolo, whose winemaking tradition began at an early age alongside his father and grandfather. The program sources grapes primarily from small vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island, crafting Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec. All winemaking happens in-house, from fermentation through bottling. The Malbec took Gold at the 2023 New York Wine Classic, while the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon each earned Silver. The tasting room sits inside the greenhouse at Gossett's Nursery. Walk-ins are welcome.

Walk-In Tastings
No reservation needed. $20 for a choice of 3 wines and 3 cheeses. Open Thursday–Saturday 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and Sunday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Food Pairing
Wines pair with cheeseboards, focaccias, and pastries from neighboring Gardenside Kitchen café.
