About Sierra Starr Vineyard & Winery
Phil and Anne Starr planted the first five acres in 1979 and 1980, establishing Sierra Starr in 1995. Their son Jackson joined as Vineyard Manager and Assistant Winemaker in 2005. The program now spans twelve acres in the Sierra Foothills AVA, where dry farming and underground-gravity flow support the cellar's work. The portfolio includes Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouchete, and Barbera. Blondie's Blush Rosé, crafted from one hundred percent Nevada County Barbera, is a notable wine. Solar power runs the operation. A tasting room sits in downtown Grass Valley.
