Schachhuber

About

Schachhuber has been family-owned since 1796 in Haugsdorf, in Austria's Weinviertel region. The vineyard splits evenly between white and red varieties. Riesling vines at Schatzberg are 54 years old, Pinot Blanc 49 years old. Five terraced sites on Schatzberg's south side hold Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. White wines are vinified in stainless steel tanks. Chardonnay Barrique ages in Alie Barrique barrels, while red wine mash ferments in tanks before aging in old wooden barrels or new Alie Barrique barrels. The program avoids herbicides in vineyard management. The portfolio includes Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay.
