Pleinair Vineyards sits on 21.5 acres in the Fiddletown AVA, elevation between 1850 and 1950 feet, with well-drained sandy loams and decomposed granite soils. Daniel Malone and Steve Leveque craft Syrah, Grenache, Mouvedre, Petite Sirah, and Viognier. Steve Leveque worked as winemaker at Robert Mondavi Winery for 10 years and as executive vice president and winemaker of Chalk Hill Estate Winery in Sonoma, and has worked with wineries and growers in the Sierra Foothills for the past four years. The tasting room at 21090 Ostrom Road opens Friday through Sunday, 11am to 4.30pm, with outdoor seating, vineyard tours, and food. Tom and Sarah Malone's estate welcomes the Vintage Club, which receives four shipments yearly of three bottles each, plus 20 percent online and tasting room discounts, and 25 percent case pricing.
