Jim and Lynda Taylor founded Mt. Vernon Winery in Auburn, where Ryan Taylor is the winemaker. The largest and most award-winning winery in Placer County, it occupies a restored 1950s milk house as its tasting room. A wine cave hosts Wine Cave Dinners with five to six course menus and the Winery Concert Series. Wine Club Island features a Summer Concert Series from May through October with free live music. The Jailhouse bar pours wines by the glass and bottle. Open Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
