The castle at Pomino dates from 1500, anchoring an estate that Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici singled out in 1716 as one of four most prized wine territories in Tuscany, alongside Chianti, Carmignano, and Val d'Arno di Sopra. The wines earned recognition at Vienna's World's Fair in 1873 and gold at Paris in 1878. Vines climb to 700 metres, where Leonia Éternelle is made from Chardonnay grapes. The estate offers five rooms for overnight stays, a garden with hydromassage pool, and free wifi. Hospitality closes from December 23 through January 3.
