About Marchesi Antinori - Tenuta Tignanello

A Tuscan estate with roots reaching to 1346, Tenuta Tignanello passed through the hands of the Buondelmonti family, then the Medici in the seventeenth century before the Antinori family acquired it in the mid-1800s. The property spans 319 hectares between the Greve and Pesa river valleys in Chianti Classico, with 165 hectares planted to vine at altitudes of 350 to 400 meters. Soils are marine marlstone, limestone, and schist from the Pliocene period. Throughout the 1970s, Tenuta Tignanello became a laboratory for viticultural innovation, introducing Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to the program. The signature wines, Solaia and Tignanello, have been defined by international press as among the most influential in Italian viticulture. The vinification cellar was completely renovated between 2008 and 2009. The estate also maintains 37 hectares of olive groves.
