About Mail Road Wines
Mail Road Wines was founded in 1989 in Santa Barbara by winemakers Matt Dees and Michael Palmer. Dees brings experience from Craggy Range in New Zealand and Staglin in Napa Valley. The program centers on Mt. Carmel Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, where six blocks span 22.5 acres at 800 to 1000 feet elevation. Heritage Chardonnay and Pinot Noir clones are planted on organically and principally dry-farmed land. The 2022 Mt. Carmel Chardonnay earned 97 points from Jeb Dunnuck at The Wine Advocate. The 2022 Mt. Carmel Pinot Noir scored 95 points from the same critic.
