Hanover Winery

About Hanover Winery

Hanover Township, Butler County. Hanover Winery opened in 2009 as the county's only winery, run by Eddie and Elizabeth Scheffel McDonald. The tasting room started as a hobby shed, remodeled, with the wine producing area built up with help from friends and family. In 2016 the original manufacturing area was expanded, and a new vineyard went into the ground that spring on the west end of the property, planted to Marquette, Norton and Seyval. An outside tasting area with courtyard seating followed in 2021, and in 2023 the winery added an outdoor brick oven for wood fired pizza. The list now runs 26 plus wines, dry through dessert, and each August the winery hosts its Summer Wine Festival.
