E2 Family Winery traces its roots to 1921, when Herman Walter Ehlers began his education in wine at the National Fruit Product Company, which later became the Shewan-Jones Winery in Lodi. Eight years into that work, Ehlers became a winemaker for the operation. The family's presence in California runs deeper still. Ancestors arrived in 1835 and settled in Lockeford. The Ehlers family history in the wine business began during the early days of prohibition. Today the winery operates a wine club with quarterly releases, offering members 15% discounts on 12-bottle shipments or 10% on 6-bottle selections. The program also includes private label wine options.
