Husseren-les-Châteaux sits at 390 meters, the highest village in the Alsace vineyard. Domaine Wehrle was founded in 1909 and now spans ten hectares, four of which climb the slopes of the grand crus Eichberg and Pfersigberg. The vineyard fragments into approximately sixty small parcels across varied soils of limestone, marl, and clay. Laurent Wehrle joined his father in 1997 after studying viticulture in Mâcon and business in Jouy-en-Josas, then took the domain alone in 2000. The program practices organic viticulture and will obtain organic certification in 2023. The portfolio spans Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay.
