About Clos-Meckert
Jean-Luc and Éliane Meckert work from Heiligenstein, where their family's history in the region began in the Barr area. The domain cultivates, vinifies, ages, bottles and sells wines from its own harvest. The portfolio spans Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, and Klevener de Heiligenstein, a grape variety found only in Heiligenstein and four neighboring communes in Bas-Rhin. Klevener was documented in Alsace as early as 1551. The work follows reasoned viticulture with limited inputs. Soil management alternates between mowed and scratched rows. Vine disease treatment uses Bordeaux mixture. After harvest, grapes are pressed immediately and the juice moves to a refrigerated tank.
