BREITENBACH WINE CELLARS

BREITENBACH WINE CELLARS

About

Built in 1980 by winemaker and owner Duke Bixler, at Der Marktplatz in Dover, Ohio. The name is German for bright or broad stream, a nod to the water that runs through the grounds. Initial production was 1,500 gallons of grape and fruit wine. Now the cellar turns out over 40 varieties, including Dandelion wine, with annual production topping 150,000 gallons. The work is a family affair, Duke Bixler alongside his wife Cynthia and their daughters Anita and Jennifer, all wines made on the premises. Each May, the first Saturday brings the annual Dandelion May-Fest winery tour.
