About Bodegas Lecea
San Asensio's Historic Neighborhood of Las Cuevas holds four cellar caves built in the 16th century, maintaining a constant temperature of approximately 13 degrees Celsius. Bodegas Lecea operates within them. The family has cultivated vineyards and made wine since the 16th century, naming bottles under the Lecea surname for more than five generations. Nine wines come from their own vineyards in Rioja Alta, planted in clay-limestone and clay-iron soils. The house practices traditional grape treading, pisado, a method evident in Corazón de Lago and celebrated each year when the Grape Treading Festival draws up to 2,000 visitors. Enotourism experiences include standard cellar visits, premium vineyard visits with lunch, electric bike tours, classic 4x4 vehicle tours, and gastronomic visits.
