About Bernardo Winery, Inc.
Founded in 1889, Bernardo Winery stands among California's oldest continuously operating wineries. The Rizzo Family has owned and operated the winery since 1927, producing wines from San Diego County grapes. The property sits on what was once the La Cañada de San Bernardo Spanish land grant, 25 miles north of Downtown San Diego. During Prohibition, the winery survived by producing sacramental wine. Today the tasting room opens Wednesday through Sunday, 11 to 8 Wednesday through Saturday and 11 to 6 on Sundays. The Kitchen serves classic Sicilian and Old California fare, including housemade pastas, wood-fired pizza, and fresh salads. Manzanita Roasting Coffee House operates Wednesday through Sunday, 9 to 5. A Farmers Market runs Fridays, 9 to 1, in the lower parking lot.
