About
Altipiano Vineyard and Winery in Escondido produces Sangiovese, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Barbera, Arneis, and Primitivo. The 2018 vintage earned recognition at the 2022 SF Chronicle International Wine Competition, with the Petite Sirah taking Gold, the Sangiovese and Due Amici capturing Silver, and the Estate Barbera Bronze. Each wine receives careful oak aging. The 2018 Sangiovese rests 18 months in French, Hungarian, and American oak. The Petite Sirah ages in French and Minnesota oak, while the Primitivo spends 18 months in Boswell Kentucky oak. The Due Amici, sourced from Pine Mt. AVA and Thompson Estate in San Diego County, ages 24 months in French oak. A tasting room welcomes visitors. Club Altipiano members receive three selected bottles quarterly in March, June, September, and December at 20% off regular price, with free membership and no commitment required.
