About
Eric and Amy Gale founded Anchored Roots in 2020, after 12 years in the Washington State wine industry, coming home to Wisconsin. The 38-acre property sits on Willow Road, half a mile off Highway 42, holding vineyard, production facility, and tasting room together on one site. The estate vineyard started that same year with 3 acres, Marquette, Frontenac, Itasca, St. Croix, St. Pepin, Petite Pearl, La Crescent, and Louise Swenson among the first vines in the ground. In 2021, another 3 acres went in, planted to Adalmiina, Frontenac Gris, and L'Acadie Blanc. Frontenac Blanc followed in 2023, a half-acre planting, the same year the estate brought in its first harvest. Eric holds a Masters in Viticulture, and the portfolio includes Washington-grown European vinifera alongside Wisconsin's cold-hardy grapes.
