Albatross Ridge Winery

About

Albatross Ridge sits 25 acres in Monterey, seven miles from the Carmel Coast, where steep slopes and elevation reach 1,250 feet. Garrett Bowlus is the winemaker. Twelve distinctive blocks, farmed organically and sustainably, yield less than two tons per acre. The soils, diatomaceous and shale, mirror Burgundy's terroir. Six Burgundian clones, four Pinot Noir and two Chardonnay, receive a dozen hand-pruning passes each vintage. The house produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Rosé, and Beyond the Ridge. Tasting rooms in Carmel-by-the-Sea and Downtown Monterey are located here, with the Monterey location pairing wines alongside locally inspired tapas.
