Akido is a family-run micro-winery near Ikalto Monastery in northeast Kakheti, managed by a young couple and their parents from a renovated early 20th-century Kakhetian family house. Grapes are grown on-site in Ikalto and at a second vineyard in Akhmeta, and wines are aged in a dirt-floor marani where the qvevri can be watered to regulate temperature; Saperavi and Rkatsiteli are noted specialties.
