About Winzerhof Löwener Mühle, M. Johaentges
Igel, Mosel. A mill documented since 1603 through records of the Benedictine Abbey St. Matthias in Trier, operating under monastic rule until Napoleon's confiscation of the monasteries in 1792. Now a four-generation family operation, Wittkowsky and Johaentges tend a Roman vineyard planting in the southern Weinmosel with Muschelkalk, Keuper, and Gypsum soils. Since 2021, the program has been marketed through Vinofactur Löwener Mühle. The WeinTreff serves wine, Winzersekt, cocktails, and regional food including homemade Flammkuchen.
