Usakhelauri Vineyards is a Lechkhumi producer working the rare Usakhelauri grape at its origin in the villages of Okureshi and Zubi. The company tells the variety's history in strong terms: in the beginning of the 20th century Usakhelauri's name conquered the hemisphere, and for years it was considered the best wine in the Soviet Union. Its German importer describes the wine as lost in the 1980s, rediscovered in 2001 and rebuilt with laborious handwork.
