About Tenuta San Guido - Sassicaia
Bolgheri, Toscana. Tenuta San Guido was founded in 1942 and extends across 2,500 hectares, anchored by olive groves that hold about 11,000 adult plants across 110 hectares. The first Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard, planted in 1944, was just over one hectare. Mario Incisa della Rocchetta and Giacomo Tachis partnered together for over 40 years until Tachis's death in 2016. The portfolio comprises three wines. Sassicaia, first released to market in 1971 with the 1968 vintage, is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Guidalberto arrived in 2000 after more than twenty years of experimentation. Le Difese followed in 2002. Carlo Paoli, Alessio Bartolomei, and Matilde Gentili continue the cellar's direction.
