About the winery

Te Kano, the Māori word for The Seed, is a Central Otago family-owned wine estate, focused on producing the best Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and other interesting varieties and styles. Owned by the Lloyd family who are committed to regenerating the land which was left barren after the gold rush of the 1800’s. They are building a sustainable future through re-planting, soft farming practices and excellent stewardship. A true estate operation, the family own 4 vineyards, a winery, as well as an award winning, architecturally designed cellar door. The highly awarded wines are the rarest combination of layered elegance and sublime natural quality. Visit Hidden in our Eliza Vineyard on Felton Road, our Cellar Door is cantilevered out into the landscape, gifting us dramatic views of the Kawarau River, Cromwell Basin and the mountains beyond. Our guests can enjoy beautiful new perspectives of our Central Otago environment while tasting wines that come from this incredible place. We offer a mini-deli so you can build your own picnic and enjoy on our picnic lawn surrounded by the serenity of nature.
