About
A monastery harvest estate since 1380, when Kartause Aggsbach established this property. The Stierschneider family acquired the Kartäuserhof in 1862. Jakob Stierschneider oversees winemaking and management today, with Karl Stierschneider as Senior Chef deeply involved in the cellar work. The vineyards occupy six named Rieds, Achleiten, Klaus, Weitenberg, Hinterkirchen, Steinriegl, and Seiberer, producing roughly 70,000 bottles annually. Recent releases include a Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ultimo 2025 and a Riesling Auslese, both recognized in the Falstaff Weinguide 2026/27. The tasting room opens weekdays 8 to 17, weekends and holidays 10:15 to 15:30. Group tastings require advance reservation and a minimum of six.
